Elizabeth Marie Stewart, age 93, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully on Friday, Dec. 7, 2012, in Stein Hospice Care Center from natural causes.
She was born on April 27, 1919, in Redtown, Ohio, the daughter of Alfred Andrew and Rosene (Mulpas) Houghton.
Elizabeth married the love of her life, John Stewart, on April 27, 1935, and they enjoyed 52 years of marriage together. They were living in Pricetown, Ohio, then and in Sandusky before he passed away on February 13, 1987.
She enjoyed knitting and fishing, but most of all her family.
Memories of Elizabeth will be carried on by her loving family; her son, Alfred Stewart of Ft. Meyers, Fla.; son and daughter-in-law, John and (Nancy) Stewart of Sandusky; seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; her sisters, Jean Dalrymple, Leonora Geist, Althea Almashy; and daughter-in -law, Sandra Stewart.
Calling hours will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, at James Funeral Home, Newton Falls, Ohio. Funeral services will immediately follow at 1 p.m., at the funeral home, with Rev. Gordon Ferguson officiating. Elizabeth will be laid to rest beside her husband John in Newton Falls Cemetery.
