Mary Josephine Mellon, 97, formerly of Milan, and residing in Zionsville, Ind., passed away Sunday evening, Dec. 2, 2012, in Zionsville Meadows nursing home following a brief illness.
Mary Josephine was born Nov. 23, 1915, in Dexter City, Ohio, daughter of the late William and Esther A. (Rogers) Hupp.
Mary was a member of Milan Methodist Church, the Church Woman’s group, Eastern Star, and the Milan Garden Club and the Milan Crafters Club. In her spare time she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Mary Josephine is survived by her six grandchildren, Kathleen Kinzel, of Indianapolis, Deborah Wolf, of Cincinnati, Susan Leonard, of Toledo, Robert Pearson, of Columbus, and Michael Mellon and James Mellon, of Milan; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Mary Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, Walter F. Mellon, whom she married in May of 1933; her daughter, Nancy Ann (Mellon) Pearson; her two sons, James and Lewis Mellon; and her parents.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9, at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, Milan Chapel, 1 S. Main St., Milan, OH 44846. The Rev. Becky Verbridge will officiate. Interment will be in Milan Cemetery.
