Delos “Dee” O. Woodward, 92, of Norwalk, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, in Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky.
He was born Nov. 19, 1920, in Norwalk where he was a lifelong resident. He graduated in 1938 from Norwalk High School and was a life member of First Presbyterian Church in Norwalk, where he served as a former trustee. He served in the U.S. Army for three years in the 94th Infantry Division of the 319th Medical Battalion, and was awarded the medical combat badge.
He and his wife, Pauline, owned and operated the Credit Bureau of Norwalk until 1980. He was also employed by Kubach-Smith Funeral Home in Norwalk from 1957-94 as a funeral assistant and ambulance driver.
He is survived by his daughters, Dee Anne (David) Webber, of Cleveland, and Charlene M. Mohr, of Norwalk; sons, Timothy D. Woodward, of Norwalk, and Stewart E. (Cindy) Woodward, of Lakewood, Ohio; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, M. Pauline “Polly” (Eckstein) Woodward in 2002; a daughter, Bonita Hadamuscin; parents, Charles and Bessie (Hazard) Woodward; sisters, Elizabeth “Bette” Isele, Mary Signs and Ruth Crawford; and brothers, Oliver and Richard Woodward.
Friends may call 5-7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, at Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main St., Norwalk where a funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Adrian N. Doll, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
