Josephine C. Carlucci, 94, residing in Sandusky, passed away Friday afternoon, Nov. 30, 2012, in Regina Health Center in Richfield, Ohio, following a brief illness.

She was born Aug. 17, 1918, in Sandusky, daughter of the late Frank and Catherine (Ross) Gioffredo. Josephine was a 1936 graduate of Margaretta High School and was a member of the girl’s basketball championship team of 1935 and 1936. She retired from Barr Rubber Co. in 1968 as a lab tech and had been employed previously with Philco Co., also in Sandusky, where she met her husband Michael.

She was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, the IAB Club, the American Legion post 83 Women’s Auxiliary, and UAW Local 913. Josephine enjoyed swimming and playing volleyball at the YMCA, bowling in various leagues throughout the years, traveling with her husband and especially spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her son, Leonard (Patricia) Carlucci, of Jupiter, Fla., five grand children, Michael (Jen) Carlucci, of Raleigh, N.C., JoEllen Carlucci, of Broadview Heights, Ohio, and Marc Flores, Angela Flores (Rob Golden) and Melissa Boucher, all of Connecticut; seven great-grandchildren, Dominic, Joseph, Jonathan, Anthony, Isabella, Mikayla and Olivia; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, Michael, in 1997; her parents; four brothers, Frank, Don, Ernest and Pat Gioffredo; and three sisters Mary Murra, Marge Scagnetti and Catherine in infancy.

Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, at Groff Funeral Home and Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusk, where prayers will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. Joe Steinbauer will officiate. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park.
