Orville L. Welch, 89, Sandusky, died on Thursday, November 22, 2012, in Firelands Regional Medical Center.
He was born on November 8, 1923 in Clinton, Ill. Orville was employed by Bell Technology in Massachusetts as a design engineer. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in WW II.
He loved to play the organ, and also played the guitar and banjo. Orville was a published writer who loved to read and paint.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary (Rethinger) Welch, whom he married June 10, 1950; son, Chris (Deborah) Welch, of Irondale, Ala.; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Mark; his parents, Roy and Susan (Inman) Welch; and a brother, Forrest.
A private family service will be take place at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. Joe Steinbauer will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, with the American Legion Post 83 Honor Guard hosting a military tribute.
