William R. Hart, 67, of Sandusky, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012, at his residence following a lengthy illness.
Bill was born Aug. 8, 1945, in Sandusky, son of the late Walter L. and Sarah (Kennison) Hart Sr.
Bill proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was employed by Georgia Pacific Co. in Sandusky, and retired after 30 years of service.
Bill was a member of the American Legion Post 83, and the Huron County Conservation League. In his spare time, he enjoyed racing at the Sandusky Speedway and was a member of the Speedway Hall of Fame. Bill also enjoyed collecting guns, hunting, and most of all spending time with his family and friends.
Bill is survived by his son, Scott (Candice) Hart, and his daughter, Cynthia, of Sandusky; six grandchildren, Ireland, Whitten, Megan, Brooke, Hanna and Kendra; one brother, Larry (Nancy) Hart, of Castalia; multiple nieces and nephews.
Including his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his three brothers, Ronald D. Hart, Walter L Hart Jr. and Roger L. Hart; and two sisters, Mabel Frank and Annette Malone.
Friend may call 2-5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, at Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, where funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 26. The Rev. Al Swartz, of St. Paul Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park in Huron.
