Prena Rose Sass, 92, of Sandusky, passed away suddenly late Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 14, 2012, in Arbor Terrace, in Knoxville, Tenn., where she lived for the last 12 years.
Prena was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great -grandmother.
She was born June 27, 1920, on Kelleys Island to Steven and Rosa Filipucci. Her family moved from Kelleys Island to Sandusky where she graduated from Sandusky High School. She married Edgar Sass in 1951. Along with raising their children she worked with her husband at his accounting firm Miller & Sass.
She was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church. Prena stayed active with volunteer and charity work along with being an involved member at the IAB Club. She loved cooking and participating on her bocce and bowling teams.
Prena was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Sass; and parents.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Pamela (Ken) Sinkey; sons and daughters-in-law, David (Carol) Sass and Craig (Candace) Sass; grandchildren, Rebecca (Heath) Tunnell, Rachel (Michael) Bell, Katherine (Jacob) Brown, Anna Sass, Benjamin Sinkey, Matthew Sinkey, Amanda Sinkey, and Christine Sass; great-grandchildren, Elijah Tunnell, Parker Tunnell, Ethan Sinkey, and MaKenna Sinkey.
The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, until a memorial service at 10 a.m. at David F. Koch Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. Joe Steinbauer will officiate. Inurnment will be in the Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum, Sandusky.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Alzheimer’s Disease Research.
