Eugene H. “Gene” Kamann, 76, of Willard, died in his sleep Monday morning, Nov. 19, 2012, at his residence.
He was born July 14, 1936, in Sandusky and lived most of his life in the Willard area. Gene was a life long farmer. He also was employed at the Huron County Landfill, retiring in 2001. He owned and operated the Havana Tavern and most recently, he worked for Greg Schafer at Stone & Earth Company.
Gene was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, enjoyed listening to polka music, playing dartball and making wine, but his true love was farming with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, the former Patricia Humphrey; one daughter, Susan (Ron) Myers, of Monroeville; one son, Brian (Tami) Kamann, of Willard; seven grandchildren, Anthony (Deb) Myers, Adam (Dannielle) Myers, Michael (Dezzie) Rockford, Alex Kamann, Katie Kamann, Allen Kamann, and Brandon Kamann; seven great-grandchildren, Amber, Cameron, Alyssa, Serenity, Maverick, Mason and Oliver; one sister, Margaret (Gilbert) Mainzer, of Norwalk; one brother, Donald (Linda) Kamann, of Monroeville; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Antoinette (Neimtz) Kamann; one son, Brad Kamann; three brothers, Russell, William and Rolland Kamann; four sisters, Ruth Moser, Audrey Kamann and two infant sisters.
Friends may call 3-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, at Pfeil Funeral Home, Monroeville Chapel, 109 Monroe S., Monroeville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, Settlement Road, Norwalk. The Rev. William Pifher will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Alphonsus Cemetery.
