Juanita E. (Wheeler) Rickard, 89, of Sandusky, passed away on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 18, 2012, in Providence Care Center, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on Easter Sunday, April 1, 1923, in Sandusky, daughter of the late Frank J. and Florence E. (Bailey) Wheeler. Juanita was a 1942 graduate of Sandusky High School. She married Ervin J. Rickard in July of 1943. She worked for J.C. Penney from 1942-44, after which she became a homemaker.
Juanita is survived by her four children, Robert A. (Sandra) Rickard, of Sandusky, Linda (Rich) Lierman, of Wahoo, Neb., Leila Jean Harris, of Shelby, and Ervin M. (Mary) Rickard, of Sandusky; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Dorothy Wheeler, of Clyde, and Lillian Larsen, of Port Clinton.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin J. Rickard, in 1986; parents; brother, Frank J. Wheeler Jr.; and sister, Josephine Dutton.
At Juanita’s request, cremation will take place in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, where friends may call from 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, until memorial services at noon. David Detwiler, chaplain for Stein Hospice, will officiate. Interment will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
