Ronald E. “Ron” Keller

Ronald E. “Ron” Keller, 78, of Sandusky, passed away late Sunday morning, Nov. 18, 2012, at the Portland House, Sandusky, surrounded by his loving family.

   He was born on Sept. 19, 1934, in Sandusky, the son of Charles Donald and Esther Elizabeth (Vaith) Keller. Ron was a 1952 graduate of Sandusky High School. He served several years in the Ohio National Guard with troop L 107th Armored Calvary and for over 20 years with the Coast Guard Auxiliary.

   Ron worked for the City of Sandusky in the Waste Water Treatment Plant for 38 years, retiring on April 1, 1997. He was an avid card player and enjoyed a good game of cards. Ron loved spending time with his family and his grandchildren. His other love was Lake Erie, where he enjoyed going out boating and spending the day fishing. He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Council 546, the American Legion Post 83, AMVETS Post 17 and the Sandusky Eagles Aerie 444.

   He is survived by two daughters, Susan (Dave) Mitchell of Sandusky, and Kathleen Keller of Harrodsburg, Ky.; son, Steven Keller of Charlotte, N.C.; two grandchildren, Jennifer and Justin Hayman; his companion, Dolores Waterfield of Sandusky; her three daughters, and seven grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

   He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Sally Dibari.

   At his request no visitation will be held. Cremation will take place. The family will receive friends at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 428 Tiffin Ave., Sandusky. A mass of Christian burial will follow at 10 a.m. at the church. Rev. Eric Mueller will be officiating and assisted by Rev. Robert J. Machovec Jr., of Trinity United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 83 Honor Guard.

   The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to Stein Hospice Service, Inc., 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870, or to one’s favorite charity.
