Ruth E. Hite, 90, of Vermilion, died Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, in Norwalk Memorial Home.
She was born March 19, 1922, in Vermilion and lived in the area all of her life. She was a 1938 graduate of Berlin Heights High School. She was a bank teller and secretary to the president of Citizens Banking Company in Lorain for many years.
She was a member of Zone Temple 86 Order of the Pythian Sisters; Halcyon Chapter 347 Order of Eastern Star, where she was a past worthy matron; the Echoes Club of Dendarah Court No. 10; and Ladies of the Oriental Shrine of North America No. 10. She was also a member of the Turkeyfoot Clan 75, The Grand and Glorious Order of Hillbillys, and the Bunco Club. She was a member of First Congregational United Church of Christ in Berlin Heights. She enjoyed crocheting and visiting with her family.
She is survived by her three sons, Russell (Nancy) Hite, of Vermilion, Richard (Gayle) Hite, of Vermilion, and Donald (Jeanne) Hite, of New London; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Orville A. Hite; her parents, Leslie and Inez (Brundage) Bentley; and three sisters, Thelma Manzo, Harriet Lippus and Naida Demuth.
Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, at Morman-Hinman-Tanner Funeral Home, 38 South St., Berlin Heights. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, at First Congregational UCC on Main Street in Berlin Heights. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery near Vermilion.
