Homer Allen Jones, 84, died Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, in Bronson Township, Norwalk.
He was born Sept. 22, 1928, in Monroeville, Ohio. Homer was a graduate of Monroeville High School and held a degree in applied science from Bowling Green State University.
He served as an Army Corpsman during the Korean War, training medics for duty overseas. He was employed as a metallurgist in the smelting industry in Sandusky. He retired from Thakar Aluminum after 55 years of employment. He was a member of Roby Lodge 534, F. & A.M., a life member of the American Legion Post 547, and attended the Church of the Master at Steuben, Ohio.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Ellen (Myers); one son, William (Carol Rice) Jones of Milan; three daughters, Jo Ellen (William) Boos of Bellevue, Lisa Andres of Norwalk, and Amy Jones of East Lansing, Mich.; three grandsons, Jason Andres, Justin Andres, and Brian Boos; honorary grandson, Patrick Rice; and great-granddaughter, Karli.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Helen (Schug) Jones; and two brothers, Thomas and Robert.
Friends may call 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, at the Pfeil Funeral Home, Monroeville Chapel, 109 Monroe St., Monroeville, where Roby Lodge will hold a memorial service at 7 p.m. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, at the Church of the Master, 2643 Ohio 162, Monroeville, with Pastor Mitchell Jason officiating.
