Larry Lay, 64, of Norwalk, and formerly of Sandusky, died Saturday, Nov.10, 2012, in Fisher-Titus Medical Center.

He was born on Sept. 8, 1948, in Oak Ridge, Tenn.

Larry was a U.S. Army veteran and served in the National Guard. He was employed by General Motors as a setup man.

He was a member of Science Lodge 50 F&AM, the U.A.W., a founding father of the Bikers Memorial Fund, a member of the V.F.W., American Legion, a Perkins Fire Dept. volunteer, and a member of the Vietnam Veterans Association.

Larry loved motorcycles and was a member of many hog groups. He also loved carving wood, was a collector of many items, and was an avid outdoorsman.

He is survived by his parents, Lowell and Billie (Jessee) Lay, Sandusky; wife, Darlene (Horne) Lay; daughter, Sara (Jared) Martin, Norwalk; sons, Scott (Laura) Lay, New London, and Bryan J. Lay, Tiffin; step children, Jeremi (Denise) Woodruff, Chagrin Falls, Ohio, Justin (Kim) Woodruff, Fremont, and Lindsi Woodruff, Clyde; grandchildren, Alec, Colton, Kennadi, Cassidy, and Marshall; step grandchildren, Payton, Ember, and Braiden; sisters, Barbara Tajkowski, Norwalk, Peggy (Steve) Heidl, Sandusky, and Mary (Mike) Walton, Sandusky; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary; his paternal and maternal grandparents; and step son, Jordan Woodruff.

Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, at Groff Funeral Home and Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky, with Science Lodge 50 holding Masonic Services at 7:30 p.m. Friends may also call 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, at the funeral home, with funeral services following at 11 a.m. Rev. Danny Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, with the American Legion Post 83 Honor Guard conducting military services.
