Ronald “Jack” Burns, 85, residing in Milan, passed away suddenly late Sunday morning, Oct. 28, 2012, in Admiral’s Pointe, Huron.
He was born Sept. 14, 1927, in Tariff, W.Va., son of the late Ola and Opal (Simmons) Burns. Jack was a U.S Air Force veteran serving during World War II and the Korean War. Jack retired from the carpenters union after many years of service.
He enjoyed fishing, the Cleveland Indians, playing the Ohio Lotto, spending his winters in Arizona, and most enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by five daughters, Debbie (Ed) Morris, of Akron, Ohio, Rhonda (Tony) Spinelli, of New Port Richey, Fla., Jackie (Greg) Ogle, of Sandusky, Bev “Rae” (Bob) Ryan, of Huron, and Sharon (Scott) Boake, of Largo, Fla.; two sons, Gary (Clarissa) Burns and Bob (Kim) Burns, of Milan; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Rachel Hemmer, of Milan; two brothers, Jimmie Burns, of Sandusky, and Dick Burns, of Oklahoma; and several nieces, nephews and relatives.
Jack was preceded in death by his daughter, Denise A. Burns; one son, Rick Burns; one grandson, Samuel Patrick Johns; his parents; four brothers, Barney, Bill, Pete, and Bob Burns; and one sister, Eula Curtis.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, until a memorial service at 2 p.m. at Groff Funeral Home and Crematory-Milan Chapel, 1 S. Main St. Milan. The Rev. Anthony Recker will officiate. Burial will take place in Oakland Cemetery at a later date.
