Joe “The Brown Bomber” Black, age 69, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012.
He was a member of Word of Deliverance Church and retired from General Motors. Joe was a former coach for AMVETS baseball teams in Sandusky.
He was predeceased by parents, James Black and Elmira Nolan; and brothers, Wesley, James, and Eddie Lee Black.
He is survived by loving family; children, Pastor Joe (Raylene) Black Jr., Timothy “Puddin Head” Black, Anthony “Pops” (Tabby) Jones, James Jones, Kizzy Black, and Denise Jones; siblings, Sell Jefferson, Emmitt Wilson, Nancy Wilson, and Joyce Nolan; former wife, Eunicestine Black; 19 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
The family will receive friends 10-11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, at Resurrection Power Church of God in Christ, 81 Price Road, Gahanna, Ohio. There will be a Home-going Celebration at 11 a.m. at the church, Pastor Franklin Culver officiating, and Pastor Joe Black Jr. will be the eulogist. Interment will be in Glen Rest Estates.
