A loving mother, grandmother, and aunt was taken by God to live in peace in heaven. Florence Stranges Jolley, age 95, of Mesquite, Texas, passed away Monday, Oct.15, 2012.
She was born April 8, 1917, in Lafferty, Ohio, to Frank and Ann (Stanchina) Stranges.
Florence, a long time resident of Port Clinton, graduated from St. Clairsville High School, St. Clairsville, Ohio. Flo worked in the credit office at L.S. Goods & Co., Wheeling, W.Va., was a clerk for the Belmont County Ohio Treasurer’s Office, and then a sales consultant for Winkleman’s Department Store in Northwood, Ohio, when she retired.
She is survived by her daughter, Ann Easterwood; husband, Terrence of Rockwall, Texas; grandchildren, Joseph Christman of Toledo, Kimberly Christman and Jaime Dadez of Freeport, Ill., Sandra Easterwood of Beaver Dam, Wis., Edie Jolley of Sachse, Texas, Edwin (Yoko) Jolley IV of Japan, Tony Jolley of Rowlett, Texas, and Tom (Janice) Jolley of Ft. Worth, Texas; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Kellie, Ethan, Todd, and Sean; great-great-grandson, Austin; daughter-in-law, Victoria Jolley; and five beloved nieces and one nephew.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edwin Robert Jolley Jr.; son, Edwin Robert (Bob) Jolley III; three sisters; two brothers; one sister-in-law; and one nephew.
Florence, known to all grandchildren and their friends as Mimi, was as wonderful baker, especially known for her pies, even into her 90’s. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She thrived on her many hours of phone conversations and storytelling with her grandchildren and nieces across the country about family history, current events, Notre Dame Football, and politics. She will be greatly missed, especially at family celebrations that she so loved to attend.
Services will be held in Ohio at a later date.
