Wilbur Junior Hershiser, 62, of Mansfield, Ohio passed away Monday, May 10, 2010, in Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus following a brief illness.
Wilbur was born Oct. 28, 1947, in Willard to Wilbur Earl and DonnaBelle Mae (Pollock) Hershiser. He was an Army veteran having served during the Vietnam Era. Wilbur was an avid collector of old cars and trucks, liked to do puzzles, loved to cook and spend money on his grandbabies at Walmart.
In addition to his wife of 33 years, Patricia K. Sunderland Hershiser, Wilbur is survived by two daughters, Jeana K. Adkins and Donna Marie Campbell; the lights of his life, granddaughters, Hannah and Ashley Campbell; special son-in-law, John R. Warrick; two brothers, Larry Hershiser of Colorado and Mike (Sandy) Hershiser of Shelby, Ohio; two sisters, Janet (Rich) Sage of St. Paris, Ohio, and Alice (Lonnie) Laser of Monroeville; numerous nephews and nieces; and pallbearers, Verlin Sunderland, Nathan Sunderland, Marque Johnston, Mike Schoonover, Jason Alsept and Jarrod Bennett.
Wilbur was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Gloria Lofland; and special aunt, Fern Bowser.
Calling hours will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday in Werner-Gompf Funeral Services, LTD, 1106 Park Ave. E., Mansfield. Funeral service with full military honors will be at 11 a.m. Friday, performed by Richland Co. Joint Veterans Burial Detail with Pastor Wayne Castle officiating. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
