Opal Mazur, 78, of Sandusky passed away Wednesday morning, May 12, 2010, in the comfort of Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.
She was born Jan. 1, 1932, in Portsmouth, Ohio, daughter of the late Julia (Chandler) and Walter Culp, and moved to Sandusky in 1950. There she met and married John Mazur in 1953 and raised a family. She loved being with her family and enjoyed her pets, sewing and quilting, gardening, and her church, Community of Christ.
Opal is survived by her two sons, James (Sherry) Mazur of Vickery and Robert Mazur of Rossford; two daughters, Beverly (Gordon) Solze of Castalia and Barbara Mazur of Sandusky; grandsons, Jason Mazur, Nickolas Mazur and Don Solze; as well as great-grandsons, Jordon and Logan Mazur. She is also survived by her brother, Clyde Culp; aunt Nellie Adkins; nieces and nephews; and long time friend, Rosemary Stamm.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Mazur in 2000; parents; brother, Joseph Culp; and sister, Shirley Deno.
Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday in Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
