Bertie B. Barnes, 93, of Norwalk, died Friday evening, Oct. 26, 2012, in Gaymont Nursing Center.
She was born Nov. 3, 1918, in Wakeman, Ohio, to Louis and Leona (Reding) Barnes and was a lifelong area resident.
Bertie was a member of Norwalk First United Methodist Church and a 50 year member of OES Queen Esther Lodge No. 15. She had worked for the Huron County Engineers Office for 42 years and retired in 1982. She was a Cleveland Indians fan and enjoyed spending time with her family.
Bertie is survived by her long time caregiver, Dorothy Atkinson of Norwalk; nephews, John Martin of Sagamore Hills, Ohio, George Barnes, Edward Barnes both of Anaheim, Calif.; niece, Elizabeth Whiteaker of Santee, Calif.; sister-in-law, Myra Barnes of Fullerton Calif.; and several cousins.
Friends may call at 9 a.m. until services at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, at Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St. Norwalk. Rev. Gary Streiff will officiate.
