Joanne Crawford, 71, of Sandusky, passed away early Friday morning, Oct. 19, 2012, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, Sandusky, after a lengthy illness.
She was born Feb. 25, 1941, in Lima, Ohio, daughter of the late Gordon and Agnes (Homier) Butler. She was a 1959 graduate of Sandusky High School. Joanne worked the switchboard at Providence Hospital for 25 years and later at Firelands Regional Medical Center for a few years, before retiring.
She enjoyed playing Bunko, collecting Santa Clauses and spending time with her family and grandchildren. Joanne looked forward to getting together with “The Book Club” and reading a book together and later going out to dinner with her friends. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
She is survived by her two sons, James (Vickie) Crawford, of Huron, and Brian (Colleen) Crawford, of Amherst; six grandchildren, Brennan, Ian, Allison, Brent, Rachel and Katelyn; five great-grandchildren, Noah, Cameron, Ava, Tyler, Molly and one baby on the way, named Grace.
Joanne was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Carolyn Poland.
At her request, there will be no visitation and cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, at David F. Koch Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. Joe Steinbauer will officiate. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky, OH 44870.
