Jean E. (Dutton) Ward, 84, residing in Sandusky, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, in Stein Hospice Care Center after a lengthy illness.
Jean was born June 27, 1928, in Cleveland, daughter of the late John and Margaret (Knoerle) Dutton.
Jean was a 1946 graduate of St. Mary Central Catholic High School. She was the owner/operator of Ju-Je Gift Shop in Sandusky for 17 years, and owner/operator of Mini Warehousing for 40 years.
Jean was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, The Maccabees, the Doll Club, and card club. In her spare time, Jean enjoyed cooking, making quilts and spending time with her family.
Jean is survived by her four sons, James Emery (Suann) Ward , John Wayne (Nancy) Ward, Jerrold (Kathy) Ward and Jeffrey Ward; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers, John (Renee) Dutton and Charles Dutton; numerous nieces and nephews; and her special friend, Verna Thorp.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Emery F. Ward; her twin sons who died in infancy; her parents; one brother, James Dutton who also died in infancy; and her special Aunt Mary, and Uncle Charles Knoerle.
Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave, Sandusky, where funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.
