Jack Ervin Lilje, 87, of Sandusky, died March 12, 2009, in Providence Care Center, Sandusky.
He was born Oct. 30, 1921, in Sandusky, to Ervin and Viola (Floro) Lilje.
He served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. He was a truck driver for more than 35 years, retiring in 1983. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Sandusky, VFW Post 2529 and Teamsters Union. He enjoyed his grandchildren and he was an active member of Lilje Racing Team.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret (Pfefferle) Lilje, whom he married Dec. 9, 1942; his son, Kenneth (Kathy) Lilje of Sandusky; daughter-in-law, Joanne Lilje of Vickery; grandchildren, Kevin (Lori) Chamberlain of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., Scott Kinsel of Millbury, Ohio, and Christopher Lilje of Akron, Jeremy (Nichole) Lilje of Dearborn, Mich., Amanda (Andrew) Czerwinski of Sandusky and Jackson “Moe” Lilje of Vickery; sister, Eleanor Klein of Castalia; half-brother, Paul (Barbara) Lilje of Huron; eight great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Ronald “Pearl” Lilje; parents; stepmother, Ruth (Taylor) Lilje; brother, William Lilje; and sisters, Helen Grathwol and Ann Jump.
In accordance with Jack’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral services. Inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
