William M. “Bill” Hart, 83, of Milan, died Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at his residence following a lengthy illness.
He was born Jan. 23, 1926, in Cleveland, the son of the late Arthur and Theresa (Strick) Hart. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II in the Pacific Theater. He retired as an electrical engineer for NASA in 1988, where he handled the operations of the Test Reactor.
He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Milan, the American Legion, VFW and was a former member of Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Theresa, whom he married Feb. 9, 1944; daughter, Nancy Hart of Huron; two sons, Michael (Christine) Hart of Mayfield, Ohio, and Donald (Willa) Hart of Peru, Ohio; and six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy McDonald; and three brothers, Joseph, Arthur and Robert.
Friends may call 3-6 p.m. Sunday in Groff Funeral Home, 1 S. Main St., Milan, where prayers will be recited at 10 a.m. Monday. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow prayers at 10:30 a.m. in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 145 S. Center St., Milan, with the Rev. Francis Speier as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery.
