Fred Fries Jr. passed away March 3, 2009.
He was born in Lakewood, Ohio, and graduated from Vermilion High School in 1964. He was active in the Boy Scouts of America and eventually attained the title of God and Country and Eagle Scout in 1962.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick Edison Fries and Nancy (Funkhouser) Fries.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Colleen Rae (Tout) Fries; four children, Fred (Kellie) Fries lll and of Australia, Gerald Fries of Indianapolis, James (Jennifer) Fries of Bloomington, Ind., and John (Nicole) Fries of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Brittany, Ember, Joshua, Alexander, Alexis, Jackson, Taylor and Alyssa; and Cricket VanWy, Susan Reibolb and Chloe Nelson.
Fred and Colleen were married Aug. 16, 1968. Their love and marriage is testament to their personalities. Their vows were a life-long commitment to each other.
He never failed to make time for his family, love his wife and teach his children the skills and knowledge to become family men themselves.
Fred’s life touched anyone that he met. He was always willing to shake a hand, share a story, or offer assistance to anyone that would ask for it. He had a warm personality, a great sense of humor and a joy of life that is hard to come by in this world.
Friends and family may visit from 1 p.m. Sunday until services at 3 p.m. at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center-Speedway, 2950 N. High School Road, Indianapolis.
Friends and family may consider making a donation to the Boy Scouts of America in Fred’s name in lieu of flowers.
