Bonnie J. Nixon, 65, Castalia, died Tuesday, March 10, 2009, in Firelands Regional Medical Center.
She was born in Sandusky, April 5,1943. Bonnie retired from Providence Care Center after 14 years of service. She loved life and lived it to the fullest. An avid Cleveland Indians fan and the world's greatest baton grandma, she never left anyone without getting a hug.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Nixon, to whom she was married 47 years; daughter, Donna Nixon, Castalia; son, Brian Nixon, Sandusky; grandchildren, Shannon and Dalton; brothers, Lynn Meyer and Duane Meyer both of Sandusky; and aunts, Florence Byers and Eleanor Owens.
She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Cheryl, 1961; mother, Kathryn (Strong) Meyer Opfer, 1999; father, Denver Meyer, 1976; and step father, Philip Opfer, 2008.
Friends may call 3-7 p.m. Thursday in the Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
