Bruce R. "Russ" Ferguson, 81, of Sandusky and formerly Akron, died Monday afternoon, March 9, 2009, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky, following a brief illness.
He was born in Stow, Ohio, and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater. Russ was employed by Danner Press, Inc. in Canton and Akron until his retirement in 1991. He was a life member of AMVETS Post 17, Sandusky.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, the former Theresa Burkhardt; daughter, Jackie (Webbie) Langford of St. Helena Island, S.C.; son, Patrick (Debra) Ferguson of St. Petersburg, Fla.; daughter-in-law, KathleenFerguson of Hampton, Iowa; seven grandsons; two great-grand-children; two sisters, Peggy Shuber of Norton, Ohio, and Kathryn Myers of Sandusky; brother, James Myers of Sandusky; sister-in-law, Mildred Ferguson of Barberton, Ohio; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his son, Russell Ferguson in 2006; parents, Robert and Margaret (Russell) Ferguson; and seven brothers and two sisters.
At the request of the deceased, cremation has taken place.Memorial services for the family will be at a later date with inurnment in Greenlawn Cemetery, Akron.
