Hester Lee Hunter, 73, Sandusky, was called to be with his Lord as he was cherishing the comfort of family and friends at home, Friday, March 6, 2009.
He was born Jan. 21, 1936, inDe Kalb, Miss., to the union of Hester Lee and Ida Mae (Houston) Hunter. Seeking a better way of life, he relocated with his brothersand sister toSandusky in 1955. He heldvarious occupations acrossmultiple trades: butcher, carpentry, construction and general home maintenance. He retired as the apartment manager and groundskeeper of the Derrick Apartment.
Hester was a baptized member of Eagles Nest Church. He was a very active person who enjoyedbicycling around town to visit family and friends. Hishobbies were fishing, gardening and cooking.
He leaves to celebrate his memories his loving wife of 49 years, Elease Davis-Hunter; son, Dion L. (Brandy) Hunter;daughters, Annette (Herbert) Hunter and Terressa Hunter; and 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, all of Sandusky; brothers, Dan Hunter, Benton Harbor, Mich., and James Hunter, Van Nuys, Calif.; and sisters, Lena Mae (Jimmy) Cherry and Eloise (Herbert) Rainey, both ofSandusky.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda Lee Hunter in 2004; grandson, Dion L. Hunter; parents; brothers, Dudley Hunter, Cleo Hunter, Kane Hunter, Theo Hunter, Sam Hunter Jr., Champion Hunter, Willie James Hunter, the Rev. Ezell Hunter Sr., and Richard Hunter.
Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday, March 13, 2009, in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory,2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1215 Pierce St., Sandusky.Burial will be in OaklandCemetery.
The family will receive friends and family at 507 N. Depot St.,Sandusky.
