James E. Harvey Sr., 92, formerly of Wood Street, Bellevue, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2009, in The Bellevue Hospital.
He was born Oct. 12, 1916, in Cleveland, a son of Mark B. and Eva (Williamson) Harvey. His family moved to Bellevue in 1925, and upon graduation from Bellevue High School in 1934 he began working for Nickel Plate Railroad and later worked for General Cutlery in Fremont.
He married Dorothy Leota Frederick in 1937; she preceded him in death in 1996.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger years and then collecting coins, knives and guns. He was also an avid photographer, often processing and printing his own photos.
He is survived by two sons, Ron (Shirlee) Harvey of Republic and Mark (Carol) Harvey of Bellevue; one daughter, Carolyn Warner of Bellevue; daughter-in-law, Sandra Harvey of Washington Courthouse, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife; one son, Lt. James E. Harvey Jr., Bellevue Firefighter; parents; a son-in-law, William Warner; a brother, Aubrey Harvey; and one sister, Leila.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. Wednesday until funeral services at 1 p.m. in Foos and Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue. The Rev. Karen Kaye of St. John's Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Bellevue City Cemetery.
