Angelina "Angie" Leto, 94, of Sandusky, passed away early Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 25, 2009, in Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky, after a lengthy illness.
Born July 23,1914, in Licata, Sicily, her family immigrated to the United States in 1920. She was a homemaker and in her earlier years Angie volunteered at the Providence Hospital Gift Shop, American Red Cross and Senior Center for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and playing bunco.
She was a member of Sts. Peter& Paul Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, Altar Rosary Society and the former Italian American Beneficial Club Ladies Auxiliary for 65 years where she held a varietyof positions as an officer.
She is survived by her daughter, Margaret "Marge" Ursetti ofSandusky; sons, Joseph Leto of Medina and Vincent Leto of Berlin Heights; 10 grandchildren;14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother, Dominic (Patricia) Bennice of Elmore, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Salvatore "Sam" Leto; son, Jerome "Jerry" Leto; two grandchildren, Joe and Ronald Leto; parents, Joseph and Carmella (Balistrieri) Bennice; two sisters, Theresa Sciria and Marie Righi; and two brothers, Paul andArchangelo Bennice.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Saturday until prayers at 12:40 p.m. in David F. Koch Funeral Home, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1 p.m. in Sts. Peter & PaulCatholic Church, 510 Columbus Ave., Sandusky; the Rev. Marty Nassr will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Sandusky.
