Florence I. (Scherley) Evans, 83, formerly of Green Springs, went to be with the Lord April 28, 2010, in Tucson, Ariz. She was born May 4, 1926, to Charles and Celestine (Hahl) Scherley.
Florence was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. "Flossy" was a beautiful, kind and wise woman who loved to play rummy and bingo.
On Oct. 5, 1944, she married Kenneth Evans and he preceded her in death Aug. 5, 1983. She worked many years in the family business as well as Nickles Bakery and the Foothills Mall.
She is survived by her sons, Thomas Evans of Green Springs and John Evans of Tucson; daughter, Marla (Evans) Bemis of Tucson. She is survived by eight grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Her siblings, Sister Mary Charles of Tiffin, Margaret Williams of Sandusky and Bernadette Hahler of Republic also survive her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; her son, Ronald; as well as siblings, Helen Russett, Rose Meggitt, Mary Laub, Leonard Scherley, Lucille Rhoad, Arthur Scherley and Edwin Scherley.
Visitation will be 1 p.m. Friday until a memorial service at 2 p.m. at St. Francis Home Chapel, 182 St. Francis Ave., Tiffin. The Rev. Patrick Rohen, Captain, U.S. Army (retired) will officiate.
