Joan R. (Meyers) Smith, 85, of Norwalk, died Friday evening, Oct. 5, 2012, in Norwalk Memorial Home.
She was born March 30, 1927, in Milan, to Andrew “Bert” E. and Edna H. (Schug) Meyers. She lived most of her life in Norwalk and Haines City, Fla.
She enjoyed doing crafts with her daughter, word search puzzles, going to the senior center, and spending time with her family. She was a life time member of Firelands Post 2743 Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Norwalk.
She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Deborah and Michael McKain of Collins, Ohio, and Sharon Fundak of Norwalk; two grandchildren, Jennifer and Jeremy Meade of Norwalk, and Thomas and Sandra McKain of Collins; five great-grandchildren, Michael and Harry McKain, Hunter Ramsey, Summer Eden, and Nicholas Burnsworth; sister, Janis MacMurray of Milan; and brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Jean Meyers of Fort Myers Fla.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 21 years, Lloyd T. Smith, in 1996; brothers, Richard A. and Helen Meyers, and Clayton and Helen Meyers; sister, Virginia M. and Wilbur Missler; brother-in-law, James MacMurray; and sister-in-law, Marie Meyers.
There will be no calling hours. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, in St. Paul Catholic Cemetery, Norwalk.
