Geraldine E. Butler

Geraldine E. “Gerry” Butler, 94, of Sandusky, passed away late Thursday morning, Oct. 4, 2012, in Erie County Care Facility, Huron, after a brief illness.
She was born Sept. 12, 1918, in Sandusky, daughter of the late Otto and Louise (Huber) Geasan. She was a 1937 graduate of Sandusky High School. Gerry worked for more than 30 years for Grill Meats/Chefs Pantry, retiring in 1983. Prior to that, she worked at Singer Sewing Company.
She enjoyed cooking and baking and spending time with the family.
She was a life long member of Zion Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school for more than 30 years, was active in the Women of the Church and had served on other committees within the church.
She is survived by her son, William Robert “Bob” Butler III, of Sandusky; grandson, William Robert “Bob” (Sarah) Butler IV, of Milan; granddaughter, Dana Weatherspoon, of Amherst; and eight great-grandchildren, Lindsay, Mackenzie, Jacque, Madison, Trey, Kelsey, Ty and Torre.
She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Michelle L. Butler-Keegan (2008); three sisters, Audrey Romesberg, Olive V. “Lolly” Hert, Genevieve Dowler; and two brothers, Wayne and Ellsworth Geasan.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, until funeral services at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 503 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. John Mawhirter will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
