Charles Welmar Reed Jr.

Charles Welmar Reed Jr., 62 residing in Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday morning, Oct. 2, 2012, in Toledo St. Vincent Mercy Hospital.
He was born Sept. 1, 1950, in Wallingford, Conn., to Charles and Dorothy (Smith) Reed Sr. Charlie retired from General Motors and Delphi after 32 years of dedicated service as a tool and die maker.
Charlie enjoyed golfing, hunting, and riding his Harley. He also enjoyed playing the role of Santa Claus. He was a proud member of UAW Local 913, the Harley Owners Group, and was an avid blood donor.
Charlie is survived by his son, Skip (Amy) Reed, of Southington, Conn.; and daughter, Alison (Art) Armstrong, of Southington. He was the loving grandfather to Kayla, Ashley and Chad Reed, Andrew, and Alivia Armstrong. He is also survived by his sister, Judy (Rusty) Ogden; loving companion and best friend, Margie; and their dog Abbey; ex-wife, Laurie Reed, and aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Charlie also played the devoted role of father and grandfather to Margie’s family.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Nancy Barry.
Friends may call from 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, until funeral services at 4 p.m. at Groff Funeral Homes and Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Pastor David Hixson will officiate.
