Charles H. Dials, 70, residing in Huron, passed away Monday afternoon, Oct. 1, 2012, in Firelands Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
Charles was born in Portsmouth, Ohio, on March 5, 1942, to Arthur and Emma (Webb) Dials.
Charles was a U. S. Navy veteran, and upon his discharge attended Akron University, where he received an associate degree. He was first employed at Lorain Community Hospital, and then went to work at Bayshore Counseling Services in Sandusky for several years. In 2005, he retired from North Coast Correctional Treatment Facility in Grafton, Ohio, where he worked as a chemical dependence counselor.
Charles was a lifetime member of the AmVets Post 162. In his spare time, Charles enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycles, traveling, and spending time with his family and friends.
Charles is survived by his wife of 38 years, Yvonne; two sons, Charles (Candi) Dials of Wellington, Ohio, James (Heather) Neal of Cleveland; three grandchildren, Alexandria Flood, Cassady Dials, Rileigh Neal; one great-grandchild, Logan Baker; one sister, Laura McGhee; one half-sister, Emma Sloan; one half-brother, Gary Daniels; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Including his parents, Charles was preceded in death by one brother, Russell; and one half-brother, Jerome.
Friends may call 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, at Groff Funeral Homes and Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. At the request of the family, cremation will follow the visitation.
