Frederick E. Wagner III, age 93, residing in Sandusky and formerly of Rye Beach, Huron, passed away early Saturday morning, Sept. 29, 2012, in his home, following a brief illness.
Fred was born on April 3, 1919, in Sandusky, to Frederick E. and Mayme (Keating) Wagner II.
Fred owned and operated Wagner’s Fishing with his family for many years, and retired from the Ford Motor Co. in Lorain after more than 20 years of service. He was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran serving for four years. Fred was an avid bowler, loved all sports, enjoyed working around the house and most of all enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by five daughters, Mary R. (Robert) Kline of Norwalk, Lois E. (Jesse) Withrow of Sandusky, Dorothy M. Hottenroth of Sandusky, Rita J. (Joseph) Hohler of Sandusky, and Angela M. Cook of Sandusky; three sons, John F. (Virginia) Landoll of Milan, James M. Landoll of Ashland, and Frederick E. (Jan) Wagner IV of Bellevue; daughter-in-law, Bonita Landoll of Huron; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Including his parents Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Frances (Miller) Wagner in 1987; son, Phillip T. Landoll; three brothers, Lester, Charles, and Richard; and one sister, Margaret.
Friends may call at 10 a.m. until time of memorial services at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, at Groff Funeral Home and Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. David Clarke of Stein Hospice will officiate. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park Huron.
