Billie F. Smith, 81, of Norwalk, died Saturday evening, Sept. 29, 2012, in Fisher-Titus Medical Center.
She was born Oct. 20, 1930, in Walnut Township, Gallia County, Ohio, to Frank and Margaret (Slone) Collins. Billie was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church where she had been a long time volunteer and Eucharistic minister.
Her passion was art, especially watercolor, and she had earned many awards over the years. Billie taught art at the Huron County Senior Enrichment Center, was a member of the Firelands Area Art League, and was accepted into the Ohio Watercolor Society.
She was an avid Euchre player and was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be sadly missed by her family.
She is survived by her children, Chris and Peggy Smith of Milan, Jerome and Debra Smith of Kintnersville, Pa., Joe and Barb Smith of Norwalk, Cindy and Dennis Roth of Oregon, Ohio, Andrew Smith of Haymarket, Va., and Char and Greg Frost of Hallsville, Texas; 17 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Bob Collins of Millersburg, Ohio, Folley Phillips of Cumberland Gap, Tenn., and Lamar Phillips of Rome, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Smith, Jan. 17, 2012; brother, Green Collins, and sisters, Gertrude Francis and Clair Mullins.
Friends may call 4:30-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, at Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk, where the Rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 38 W. League St., Norwalk, Rev. William Pifher will officiate. Interment will be in St. Alphonsus Cemetery.
