Walter H. Knott, 89, of Berlin Heights, died Tuesday morning, Jan. 13, 2009, in Fisher-TitusMedical Center in Norwalk.
He was born Dec. 16, 1919, in Vermilion Township, and lived in this area all his life. He was a 1937 graduate of Berlin Heights High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater as a combatengineer. He worked for Kelble Bros. as a meat processor for more than 40 years.
He was a charter member of Berlin Heights American Legion Post 659. He was a member of German Reformed Church.
He is survived by his wife of61 years, Gladys (Shoop); daughter, Sharon Weber of Bellevue; son, Paul (Laura) Knott of Berlin Heights; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one niece and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gottlieb and Bertha (Kelble) Knott; and two sisters, Louise and Ruth Crum.
Friends may call from 11 a.m., Saturday, until services at 1 p.m. in Morman-Hinman-Tanner Funeral Home, 38 South St., Berlin Heights; the Rev. Joyce Schroer will officiate. Burial will follow in Peaks Cemetery on Darrow Road.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Berlin Heights Congregational United Church of Christ.
