Gilbert W. Didion, 91, of Sandusky, passed away early Tuesday morning, Sept. 18, 2012, in Firelands Regional Medical Center.
Gil was born Feb. 21, 1921, in Bellevue, to William J. and Josephine (Ringline) Didion. He enjoyed playing cards, spending time with friends, and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who loved spending time with his family.
He was founder and president of G.W. Didion Brothers, Inc. and Keys Golf Course, as well as a founder and lifetime member of the Erie County Homebuilders Association. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and a social member of the American Legion and VFW Post 2529.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Dona J. (Remington) Didion, whom he married July 9, 1948; two sons, Randal W. Didion and Kevin D. (Tamara) Didion, of Huron; daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Didion; seven grandchildren, Jaime Didion, Scott Didion, Blair Didion, Aaron Voltz, Carl Voltz, Joshua Didion and Jacob Didion; two sisters, Wilma (Harold) Hammersmith and Connie (Richard) Hipp, of Norwalk; brother, Gerold (Irene) Didion, of Norwalk; sister-in-law, Helen Didion; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded by a son, Douglas Didion; his parents; four brothers, Celestine, Isadore, Eugene and Herbert; two sisters-in-law, Catherine and Dorothy Didion; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Sally (Gerald) Eberly and Gertrude (Art) Holmer.
Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, at David F. Koch Funeral Home, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky, where prayers will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 21, followed by a 10 a.m.
Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. Eric Mueller will be officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
