Daryl W. "Coop" Cooper, 67, of Sandusky, died unexpectedly late Saturday evening, Dec. 27, 2008, in Firelands Regional Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 13, 1941, in Sandusky and was a 1960 graduate of Sandusky High School. He was a member of the U.S. Army Airborne and was stationed in Berlin from 1960-66. Mr. Cooper worked for Ohio Edison for 30 years, until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, SanduskyMoose Club, a 32nd DegreeMason, Zenobia Shrine, Scottish Rite, Singara Grotto, AMVETS Post 17 and VFW Post 2529. He loved boating, fishing, woodcarving, cooking, working in his garage and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of32 years, Kimberly (Faasen) Cooper; daughter, Katja (MikeMascarenas) Cooper of Sandusky; sons, Darren Cooper and Doug Jenney of Massachusetts and Joseph (Diane Woolfenden) Simon of Huron; ex-wife and friend, Monika Cooper of Sandusky; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Janet (Will) Cooper; and maternal grand-parents, William and Anna Will.
Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Friday in Groff Funeral Home,1607 E. Perkins Avenue, Sandusky, where funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Paul Birmingham, Chaplain at Ohio Veterans Home, will officiate. Interment will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park wheremilitary graveside services will be conducted.
