Della Faye Winkel, 76, Monroeville, passed away Tuesday morning, Dec. 30, 2008, at her home following a lengthy battle with cancer, surroundedby her loving family.

She was born Dec. 28, 1932, in Gallipolis, Ohio, daughter of the late Jesse Stanford Fulton and Emma May (White) Fulton.

Faye moved to Sandusky at the age of 16. She married Don, her husband of more than 57 years, April 30, 1951. She was a homemaker and the proud mother of two children.

Faye loved spending time with her loving husband and the rest of her family, playing bingo, video games and slot machines.She raised gardens full of flowers, fruits and vegetables and was well known for her homemadestrawberry freezer jam. She spent years enriching the livesof friends and fans of Country Stage's Bluegrass Festivals.

She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Milan, and Oxford Grange.

Faye is survived by her loving husband, Donald Winkel; two children, Dennis Winkel of Monroeville and Dianna (Dee) Walkup of Willard; six grand-children, Mellissa (Gabriel) Aparicio, Joshua (Racheal) Winkel, Jennifer Walkup, Jessica (Ryan) Beverick, Greg (Mandy) Walkup and Ashlee (BJ) Middleswarth; seven great-grandchildren, with an eighth great-grandchild arriving in the spring; and many generations of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Emma (White) Fulton; and siblings, Eleanor May, Charles Owen, Morton Parker, Margaret Ellen, Donna Melissa, Florence Marie, Edward Arnold, Alberta Evalena and Stanford Jesse.

Friends may call 2-4 and6-8 p.m. Friday in Groff Funeral Home, 1607 E. Perkins Ave.,Sandusky. Funeral services will be at noon Saturday in the funeral home; the Rev. Wendy Schindler Chasney, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park.

In accordance with Della Faye's personal preferences, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Stein Hospice, Inc., 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870, or to the family for her other charitable preferences.
