Anna Best, 87, of Sandusky, passed away unexpectedly early Sunday morning, Dec. 28, 2008, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, Sandusky.
She was born Sept. 12, 1921, in Raiding, Austria. Anna met the love of her life during WW II and later immigrated to the United States. She married her husband, Eugene Best, on Dec. 2, 1947, and her greatest joy was her loving family. Anna retired from the Perkins Public Schools where she worked as a cook for 20 years. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and enjoyed knitting and rose gardening.
She is survived by two daughters, Karen (Stephen) McGuire of Sandusky and Carol (Jeffrey) Spaw of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; three grandchildren, Matthew McGuire of Toledo, Stephanie (Steve) Patterson of Dublin, Ohio, and Jordan Spaw of Gainesville, Fla.; great-grandson, Logan Patterson; sister, Theresa (Heinz) Kleiner and brother, Harry Wukovits, of British Columbia, Canada; and nieces and a nephew.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene W. Best (1986); parents, Anton and Margaret Wukovits; sister, Margarethe Wukovits (2006); and brother, Eric Wukovits (1987).
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Wednesday until funeral services at 2:30 p.m. at David F. Koch Funeral Home, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Assistant Pastor Mark V. Groen, will officiate. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park Cemetery, Huron.
