Earle Collins Shade, 80, of Tiffin, Ohio, died Wednesday evening, Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, 2008, in St. Francis Home, Tiffin.
He was born Sept. 15, 1928, in Hollidaysburg, Pa., to Earle C. and Florence (Hamrick) Collins Sr. On Dec. 24, 1945, he married Barbara Springstead, they later divorced and she preceded him in death in 2004. He married Mary Dachcoff and she preceded him in death in May 2005.
Survivors include two sons, Gary S. (Jackie) Shade of Youngstown, Ohio, and Forrest J. (Cathy) Shade of Sandusky; three daughters, Linda D. Lonsbury of Tiffin, Donna M. (Joe) Washek of Lancaster, Ohio, and Anita L. Rodriguez of Sandusky; two step-daughters, Donna Hatch of Virginia and Angie Arvanitis of Toledo; two half-brothers, Monte Shade of Alaska and Kent Shade of Altoona, Pa.; a half sister, Leilani McNulty of Texas; 14 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
Earle proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1946-47 and attended Washington Street United Methodist Church. He was an electrician out of Toledo and Sandusky Union Hall for more than 45 years.
There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be 1:30 p.m. Jan. 4 at Washington Street United Methodist Church, 230 S. Washington St., Tiffin, with the Rev. Nathan Howe officiating. At Earle’s request, his body was donated to science. Burial will be at a later date. Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home 419-447-2424 assisted the family with arrangements.
