Daniel H. Dwight, age 71, of Sandusky, died Friday morning, Dec. 26, 2008, in Firelands Regional Medical Center, Main Campus, Sandusky, after a brief illness.
He was born May 1, 1937, in Sandusky, and was a 1955 graduate of Margaretta High School. He owned and operated Progressive Fabricating and Agriweld from 1974-1995, retiring in 1995. Dan was a member of Castalia Congregational UCC; life member of NRA; past president of Erie County Conservation League; a professional marksman; past president of Local 224 of Sandusky; and a member of the Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Union Local 42 of Norwalk.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Billman) Dwight, to whom he was married 50 years, June 28, 2008; daughter, Lynne E. Dwight; three sons, Daniel T. (Cheryl) Dwight, Craig A. (Sally) Dwight and Michael L. (Pam Betzenheimer) Dwight; seven grandchildren, Angela (Andy) Killian, Trevor Shinault, Daniel J. Shinault, Christopher Dwight, Leah and Lorenza Dwight, and Daniel M. Dwight; two great-grandchildren, Mariah and Makenzi Killian; sister, Paulette (Dwight) Biglin; brother, Thomas (Jane) Dwight; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Dorothy (Stein) Dwight; and brother-in-law, Donald Biglin.
There will be no visitation and cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Castalia Congregational United Church of Christ, 205 Main St., Castalia; Pastor John Paputza will officiate.
