David Thomas Hayes, 57, of Huron, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008, at Stein Hospice in Sandusky, following an 11-year struggle with chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
Born in Cleveland, March 16, 1951, he lived most of his life in Huron. He graduated from Huron High School in 1969 andWilmington College in 1973.
He worked as a reporter for the Sandusky Register, Erie County Reporter, and Amherst News Times. He worked for 15 years as a salesman for Wolohan Lumber Company in Avery, Ohio. Finally, he worked for the Sandusky radio stations, including WLEC where he enjoyed sharing his love of the American Music Classics with everyone. Throughout the years he enjoyed riding his motorcyclesand making his own music.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Victoria (DeChant); daughter, Meegan Brown and her husband, Michael, of Toledo; father, Thomas B. Hayes and his wife, Helen, of Cape Coral, Fla.; sister, Linda Engle, and his nephew, Bobby Engle, of Lehigh Acres, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Henrietta Hayes (May)in 1967.
Friends may call 3-7 p.m. Friday in Foster Funeral Home, 410 Main St., Huron, where services will beat 10 a.m. Saturday with theRev. Dr. Stephen Brown officiating.
