Lester C. Farrand, 78, of LaGrange, Ohio, and formerly of Sandusky and Norwalk, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, in Specialty Hospital in Amherst.
He was born Dec. 8, 1933, in Elyria and was raised in Norwalk. Lester worked as a farm worker at Sommers Farm in South Norwalk.
He was a member of the Church of God in LaGrange and a former member of Cross Community Church in Elyria. Lester was a walking encyclopedia when it came to baseball and an avid fan.He enjoyed playing games with his fellow residents at Keystone Pointe in LaGrange. Lester had a unique sense of humor and put a smile on everyone’s face that he met.
Survivors include his brother, Glenn (Abbie) Farrand, of Elyria; sister, Jane Farrand, of Dubuque Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kyle and Margaret Farrand; brother, Bill Farrand; and his sisters, Ruth Zureich and Marian Lenon.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. Monday, Sept.17, 2012, until services at 1 p.m. at Wyers Funeral Chapel, 2900 North Ridge Road, Sheffield Township, Ohio. Pastor Dan Wright, of the Church of God in LaGrange, will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date at Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
