Linus J. Hahler, 100, of Norwalk, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, in Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky.
He was born Feb. 20, 1908, in Norwich Township, Ohio, son of the late John and Rose (Bischoff) Hahler Jr. and was a lifelong Norwalk area resident. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Norwalk, and a former member of St. Francis Xavier in Willard. He drove school bus in Willard during the 1930s. He was also a member of the Huron County Agricultural Heritage Society and visited its display every year including the 2008 Huron County Fair. He enjoyed farming, hunting, woodworking, gardening, the Huron County Fair and playing cards with family and friends.
Linus is survived by nieces, Dorothy Ott of Norwalk and Mildred (Burt) Rollin of Wellington, Ohio; nephews, Paul (Evelyn) Ott of North Fairfield, Richard L. (Margie) Ott of Willard, Marvin J. (Andi) Ott of Norwalk, and Clayton E. (Mary) Ott of Norwalk; his sister-in-law, Linda Hahler of Greenwich; niece-in-law, Connie Ott of Norwalk; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Hahler; sisters, Irene Ott and Bertha Hahler; and his nephew, Lynn Ott in 2004.
Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Tuesday in Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk, where prayer services will be at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 E. Main St., Norwalk. The Rev. Frank Kehres will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Paul Cemetery, Norwalk.
