Benjamin Mingus, 70, of New Carlisle, Ohio, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, in Dayview Nursing Home, New Carlisle, after a brief illness.
Ben was born Jan. 30, 1942, in Sandusky, to Charles and Virginia Mingus. He grew up, went to school, and graduated from Huron High School in 1961.
He worked for Nickel Plate Railroad and was a security guard for Pickerton Securities. Ben was a Navy veteran and served during the Vietnam War.
Ben will be remembered for his big heart for family and friends. He was an avid sports fan and was very trivia minded about his sports.
Ben is survived by this mother, Virginia (Nick) Tornichio; fiancee, Diane Christman and her family; brothers, Michael (Mary) and Larry (Jan) Mingus, both of Sandusky; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Mingus; and sister, Karen.
At Ben’s request, cremation will take place and a private family service will be held at a later date.
