Oren L. Galloway, 70, ofMarblehead, died Thursday,Nov. 20, 2008, at his residence.
He was born July 20, 1938, in Parkersburg, W.V., son of the late Harold and Grace (Bishoff)Galloway. He was a 1956graduate of Sandusky High School. In October, 1961, he joined the U.S. Coast Guard and served until he was honorably discharged; he remained active in the reserves until 1969.
He worked as a newspaper reporter for the Bellevue Gazette for many years and then worked as a merchant seaman for Zapata Marine where he towed icebergs in Greenland and Iceland. He loved being out on the water.
His passion and devotion in life was taking care of animals,especially his cats.
Surviving are his sister, Wanda (George) Bell, of North Canton, Ohio; two nieces; one nephew; and numerous cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Per Oren's request, there will be no visitation or services; cremation has taken place. The Neidecker, LeVeck & Crosser Funeral Home, Peninsula Chapel, Lakeside-Marblehead, is assisting the family with arrangements.
