Clayton E. Fox Jr., 79, of Sandusky, died Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 12, 2008, in the Firelands Regional Medical Center, Sandusky, following a brief illness.
He was born June 29, 1929, in Cleveland, and was a graduate of Sandusky High School. Clayton was employed at the former New Departure-Hyatt, Division of General Motors, retiring in 1987. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Sandusky, a former member of the former Calvary Episcopal Church, Sandusky, Knight of York Cross of Honour, Science Lodge No. 50, F. & A.M., Sandusky City Chapter No. 72, R.A.M., Sandusky City Council No. 26, R. & S.M., Erie Commandery No. 23, Knights Templar, 32 degree Mason, Scottish Rite, Valley of Toledo, Singara Grotto, American Legion Post 83 and Amvets Post 17. Clayton was also active in many bowling leagues over the years.
He is survived by his wife, the former June V. Bissell, whom he married Nov. 26, 1960; daughter, Rene Fox of Huron; son, Shawn Fox of Columbus; sister, Jean; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clayton E. and Eunice (Sehlmeyer) Fox Sr.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m., Monday, until a 1:30 p.m. Science Lodge No. 50 memorial service in Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Ave. A memorial service will follow with the Rev. Gerald Bauer officiating.
