Michel E. 'Mike' Tremmel, 61, of Sandusky, passed away late Tuesday morning, Nov. 11, 2008, unexpectedly at his home.
He was born in Sandusky, Nov. 24, 1946. He was a 1964 graduate of Sandusky High School. Mike was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served two tours of duty in Vietnam. During his first tour, he served on the USS Outgamie County, LST-1073; and during his second tour he served on the minesweeper USS Advance, MSO-510.
He was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, and a life member of the VFW and DAV.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Gayle A. (Frankart) Tremmel; son, Marcus P. Tremmel of Sandusky; niece, Sharon (Greg) Tordoff of Columbus, Ohio; nephew, Martin (Joy) Tremmel of Columbus; three great-nieces and a great-nephew; and sister-in-law, Pricilla Tremmel of Norwalk.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton John and Helen Mary (Donahue) Tremmel; and two brothers, John "Jack" and Paul F. Tremmel.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today in David F. Koch Funeral Home, 520 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Prayers will be recited at1 p.m. Friday followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:30 p.m. in Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 510 Columbus Ave., Sandusky; the Rev. Marty Nassr will officiate. At his request, following the services, cremation will take place. Interment will be later in Calvary Cemetery Columbarium, Sandusky.
